DESCRIPTION:We are trying something new at The AV. We want everybody to have the opportunity of getting up on the stage in front of a live audience. However\, there just aren’t enough days in the calendar. So\, what we are going to try is a featured artist open mic. \nHow it will work is this: \nDoors open. Everybody comes in and buys a drink and sits down. \nAn opener starts the night out with a short set or original music. \nThen we bring out a featured artist to play an hour long show. \nAfter that\, we open the mic up to the audience. Each time we have one of these nights we will have a different opener and a different featured audience. You will get to see a great show and a sneak peak at what might be coming next.

DESCRIPTION:The AV Lounge is starting an “album club.” What’s that? It’s like a book club\, but for music albums. Each month\, the club will choose an album that we plan on discussing. You will listen to the album\, absorb every ounce of emotion from it\, and then you will come and talk about it with a group of fellow music lovers.\n\n\nWhat does it cost? Nothing. Seriously\, we are holding it at The AV because I don’t want people at my house. You can buy a beverage if you want\, it is still a business\, but nobody will give you a dirty look if you don’t.\n\n\nWhat’s the catch? None. I just miss listening to a whole album and then talking about it with friends.\n\n\nWhen is it? The first meeting will be September 30. 7 p.m. We will start discussing at 7:15ish and we will be out of there by 8:30 (probably\, depends on the album and discussion)\n\n\nWill you remind me? Oh yeah. I’m going to annoy you with reminders about this. I’ll make an event\, and invite you all. I’ll do that thing where I “mention” you in a post.\n\n\nWhat’s the first album? Well\, since there hasn’t been a meeting\, I get to pick. For the first meeting\, we will be discussing Big Thief’s new album Double Infinity.\n\n\nThe album releases September 5. That gives you all plenty of time to listen to it\, listen to it again\, form an opinion\, bring that opinion with you.\n\n\nSee you all September 30.
